This is Quality knife making tool steel. It has a low 1450 – 1500 degree F, hardening range and will give you a great Rockwell hardness when quenched in oil. Although it is a water hardenable tool steel, I would use oil which gave me better control on the hardness and seemed to produce a finer grain in hardening. It has been annealed but not ground to a finish. That is left up to the knife maker.
